Oil tank regulations
When an oil tank is installed it must comply with the rules and regulations to be legal. The full rules are on the OFTEC website, but the main separation distances are:
- 1.8m from an opening, such as a door or window
- 1.8m from non-fire-rated fascias, soffits and eaves
- 1.8m from non-fire-rated buildings or structures, such as a shed or greenhouse
- 1.8m from a flue terminal (boiler)
- 760mm from a non-fire-rated boundary
- 600mm from screening, such as trellis or foliage, that doesn’t form part of the boundary
If it’s impossible to meet these distances, a 30-minute fire barrier must be provided in between. We can build this for you.
